Siemens SINAMICS G120 PM250: Refurbished Drive Sourcing Guide
Siemens' September 2026 refurbishment partnership puts circular supply into the maintenance conversation. For G120 users, the commercial opportunity is real—but the engineering baseline is still the complete order number, installed architecture and verified condition.
Why the New Refurbished Channel Matters to G120 Plants
News context
Siemens and Sparepartsnow expand access to manufacturer-refurbished automation
The announced initial European portfolio covers selected drives, controllers and HMI panels processed through Siemens' standardized refurbishment and quality-testing workflow. This supports circular lifecycle planning, but it does not turn different SINAMICS configurations into interchangeable spares.

Confirm duty, voltage, Control Unit, braking or regenerative method, cabinet cooling and restart procedure.
For procurement
Separate Siemens-refurbished, independently refurbished, repaired, used and original-new offers before comparing price.
For maintenance
Store readable nameplate images, parameter backups and motor data before the next unplanned drive outage.
Map the Installed SINAMICS G120 Before Choosing a Spare
A G120 is a modular drive relationship. Identify the failed layer before purchasing a complete replacement or planning recommissioning.
Line-supply verification begins before the drive module
Supply layerPower Module verification: matching kilowatts are not enough
PM250 focusControl Unit verification: the CU is not part of the bare PM250
Control layerMotor and encoder verification: confirm the machine duty
Load layerPLC and HMI verification: preserve the operating sequence

What Procurement Should Send in the First RFQ
A complete evidence package lets an industrial automation parts supplier screen stock against the installed system instead of quoting from a family name.

No. Verify the full order number, supply class, HO/LO duty, energy-handling architecture, filter, Control Unit, firmware, motor data, cabinet cooling and installed configuration.
Do not assume so. The PM250 reference uses regenerative operation, while the compared PM240-2 references use a braking-chopper architecture. An engineered review is required.
No. The Siemens 6SL3225-0BE37-5AA0 article is the power module and is specified without the Control Unit and BOP.
Request the written product condition, complete label and revision photos, applicable repair or refurbishment record, functional-test evidence, warranty, return terms and delivery commitment.
Potential examples include downhill conveyors, centrifuges, test stands and other machines that repeatedly return energy during deceleration. Network suitability and system design still require engineering verification.
