Test GE LM2500 Gas Turbine Vibration Monitoring

Calibrate Meggitt 6240M and Bently Nevada 86517 Instrumentation

In this video we demonstrate how to test the linearity of the GE LM2500 gas turbine vibration monitoring and protection system at critical low and high pressure rotor speeds. We also separate the Meggitt 6240M series accelerometer from the Bently Nevada 86517 Acceleration Interface Module and perform a frequency response sweep calibration.

The Meggitt 6240M series, Vibro-Meter CA303 and CA306 series transducers are differential charge accelerometers that interface directly to The Modal Shop’s C9110D or  9110F Portable Vibration Calibrators.

The Bently Nevada 86517 Acceleration Interface Module typically serves to integrate the signal from the differential charge accelerometers and convert to a readable voltage output within the turbine monitoring system. Although this device can also be used in non-integrated acceleration output mode as well. Either way, the output of the 86517 is easily tested with The Modal Shop's Portable Vibration Calibrators, allowing technicians to loop check the system and create a full calibration report.
