Siemens energy will start the large-scale production of electrolytic water hydrogen production equipment in Berlin. The new production line will be set up at the existing plant in the moabit region of Berlin and is planned to be put into operation in 2023. The factory has perfect infrastructure, and the existing production workshops can be fully utilized. The production line of electrolytic water hydrogen production equipment to be built covers an area of 2000 square meters, with an investment of about 30million euros. At present, this plant mainly produces the world's leading high-power and efficient gas turbines. These gas turbines have achieved 50% hydrogen doped operation, and are expected to achieve pure hydrogen operation by 2030. Siemens energy is striving to pool expertise and experience in relevant fields to ensure the steady and successful realization of energy transformation. This also covers other business areas of energy transformation, such as the innovative high-voltage products produced by Siemens Energy switchgear in Berlin to ensure the reliable transmission of electricity to consumers.

In the Berlin plant, the hydrogen production equipment unit of electrolytic water is combined into functional modules, or "electrolyzer" after production. The most important thing is to realize the mass production of the production line to provide electrolytic water equipment with reasonable price and strong economy. This is a prerequisite for meeting the growing demand for hydrogen energy and reducing the production cost of hydrogen energy.

It uses proton exchange membrane and electricity from renewable energy to decompose water into hydrogen and oxygen. The process has high electrolysis efficiency, high purity of produced gas, reliable operation, and no chemical substances or impurities. Siemens Energy's advanced high-power PEM electrolytic water hydrogen production line is also optimized for large-scale application projects up to hundreds of megawatts, and can produce several tons of green hydrogen per hour. The electricity used in the production of electrolytic water hydrogen production equipment will also come entirely from renewable energy.
