The PLC 1747-ACN15 is a ControlNet adapter module. This module is used to connect a remote I/O chassis and interface with the 1747-SCNR that is located typically in the main chassis where the processor is installed. Being an adapter module, it requires a scanner module to function as the scanner module is responsible for requesting I/O, diagnostic and system update to the scanner.The 1747-ACN15 comes with One (1) ControlNet port and supports high-speed data transfer and provide diagnostic messages. The embedded Network Access Port (NAP) allows the module to be configured locally using the RJ45 connector and cable.

The 1747-ACN15 comes with module status indicators specifically, CHA and OK LED. The CHA LED reports the communication link between the adapter and scanner module while the OK LED reports the overall health of the module. It also comes with a 7-Segment display screen that is capable of indicating up to Four (4) characters.To set the address of this ControlNet adapter module, the rotary switches are located on top of the module. When planning to connect the module to a personal computer via the NAP port, the 1786-CP cable may be used. On the computer side, a 1784-KTC or 1784-KTCx card may is required to establish communication. Additionally, the 1770-KFC external bridge may be used to communicate the computer without the need of the ControlNet communication card installed in the computer. The 1770-KFC directly connects to the NAP port of the module while the other port of the 1770-KFC is terminated to the computer’s serial or parallel interface.
