The PLC 1746-OW4 is digital contact output module in the SLC 500 series. It has 4 relay output contacts. It also has a thermal dissipation of 0.133W per point, of 1.31W minimum, and a total of 1.9W. The 1746-OW4 has 4 points per common, 2 operating voltage ranges of between 5 and 125V DC and 5 and 265V DC. The 1746-OW4 has 10ms of maximum signal delay for both the on and off-states and it draws a backplane current of 0.045A at both 5V and 24V. It has no off-state leakage. At 5V, the 1746-OW4’s minimum load current is 10mA. In addition, its progressive current is 8A AC per module.

The CSA has certified the 1746-OW4 for Class 1, Division 2 Hazardous Environments. The 1746-OW4 module has LED indicators on the front panel that help monitor the status of each I/O point. The 1746-OW4 has diagrams on the module to help in terminal identification. To increase the conductivity of the relay contacts, the terminals are silver cadmium and gold plated, which also reduces oxidation and degradation. The 1746-OW4 has a self-locking mechanism to simplify the process of installing it in the chassis. The user simply slides it into the chassis until it locks itself in place.The 1746-OW4 has digital and field circuit separation mechanisms which reduces noise interference. It also increases the functioning of electrical field wiring. Its terminals have a 3-sided separating wall per terminal to reduce the risk of shorts during wiring. The terminals of the 1746-OW4 module can accommodate 2-14 AWG wires which are secured by self-adjusting pressure plates.
