The Bulletin 1503VC is used to control the Bulletin 1502 vacuum contactors that are a significant component of the Bulletin 1500/1900 CENTERLINE Medium Voltage Motor Controllers. IntelliVAC is an efficient and flexible solution for controlling medium voltage vacuum contactors used in motor starter and feeder applications.
An IntelliVAC module may be used to control Bulletin 1502 400 and 800 Amp vacuum contactors. Both electrically held and mechanically latched contactor types can be controlled with IntelliVAC.
A range of supply voltage (110-240V AC 50/60 Hz, 110-250V DC) allows implementation in multiple applications.
Consistent vacuum contactor pick-up time (at a given supply voltage) ensures repeatable performance.
Selectable vacuum contactor drop-out time improves coordination with upstream power fuses.
Electronic altitude compensation (Bulletin 1502 400 A only) eliminates mechanical compensation required for altitudes above 1000 meters (Bulletin 1502 800 A contactors include a user-friendly mechanical altitude adjustment).

What does the "Invalid Command Present" warning mean, and how is it resolved?
A: This warning (indicated by a yellow Module Status LED) triggers if a Close, Jog, or Trip command is detected during the module's power-up sequence, or if a Close/Jog command is reapplied too quickly (before the contactor opening sequence is verified in about 60 ms plus drop-out time). It also occurs if Close and Trip commands are present simultaneously on a mechanical latch unit. Recovery is automatic: the condition clears as soon as the offending input signal is removed or corrected, without needing to cycle control power.
How does the Time Delay Undervoltage (TDUV) feature work, and when is an external capacitor required?
A: TDUV allows the contactor to ride through a brief voltage dip or power loss without opening. The module can provide short TDUV times (up to 0.2 seconds for 110/120V and 1.0 second for 220/240V) without any external components. For longer durations up to 2 seconds (configurable via DIP switches), an external capacitor must be connected to terminals 1 and 2 of the module. Be cautious if using TDUV in emergency stop applications, as the contactor will not open until the programmed delay expires.
What is the difference between the Module Status and Contactor Status relay outputs?
A: The two relay outputs, both with normally-open contacts, provide distinct indications. The Module Status relay is closed (healthy) when the module is operating normally (green LED) and open during a fault (red LED) or some warnings. The Contactor Status relay is closed when a close command is active for the first 200 ms, or whenever the contactor is sensed to be physically closed (yellow LED); it is open when the contactor is open.
