Product FAQ

Q: Our installation requires the probe tip to be exactly 150mm from the mounting flange. The closest "Probe Penetration" (C dimension) option is 145mm or 155mm. How do we achieve the precise 150mm?

A: The "C" dimension (e.g., 205mm in your part) is a mid-setting. The threaded probe sleeve allows for ±12.7mm (0.5 inches) of fine adjustment after installation. Therefore, you would order the 145mm option (C=145). During installation, you would then thread the probe assembly further out of the sleeve by approximately 5mm to achieve the final 150mm tip position. Always order the next smaller standard length and adjust outward.

Q:Can we order a spare probe separately for the PROXPAC XL, and is it a simple field replacement?

A: Yes, spare probes are available (e.g., PN 330106-05-30-10-02-00 for metric, non-approved). However, replacement is not a simple field swap like with a connectorized system. Replacing the probe requires:
Disconnecting field wiring and opening the housing.
Disconnecting the internal hard-wired connections between the old probe cable and the Proximitor terminal block.
Removing the entire probe/sleeve assembly from the housing.
Installing the new probe/sleeve assembly and re-making the internal wiring connections.
Re-gapping the probe and re-sealing the housing.
It is a more involved procedure that should be done carefully, following the manual, to maintain the environmental seal and calibration.

Q: We need to install this in a Zone 2 hazardous area. The part number ends in -00 for approvals. Can we use it if we install it with appropriate safety barriers as per the drawings?

A: No. The -00 option (A=16) means the integrated Proximitor sensor itself is supplied without the necessary hazardous area certifications. Even if you use external safety barriers correctly, the device (Proximitor) lacks the required marking (e.g., Ex nA IIC Gc). For Zone 2, you must order the assembly with the Multiple Approvals option for the Proximitor. This would be part number 330881-28-00-205-00-02 (where A=28).
